Anne Arundel County Schools Make March 14 Weather Decision
Anne Arundel County Public Schools make schedule changes for March 14; decision on March 15 has yet to be made.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Anne Arundel County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, March 14, because of the winter storm forecast to move through the area. No decision has yet been made on a late start for Wednesday, March 15, but it would cancel some classes. (Get Patch’s daily newsletter and real-time news alerts, or like us on Facebook.)
According to a news release from the school system, a Code Blue with liberal leave is in effect for employees. With the exception of Unit III personnel, 12-month employees who are unable to get to their work location because of travel, child care, or other hardships are encouraged to use annual leave and should notify their supervisor of their intent to do so.
Unit III personnel must report to their work locations as required by their negotiated agreement. The work status for 12-month employees other than Unit III will be re-evaluated Tuesday morning, officials said. If there is a change, employees will receive an additional phone call.

While no decisions have been made about school operations on Wednesday, March 15, school leaders reminded parents that if schools do open two hours late on Wednesday, schedules would shift and schools would dismiss at their normal times instead of two hours early.

If the start of classes is delayed Wednesday, pushing back dismissal to normal times, there would be no half-day prekindergarten or ECI classes. The centers for Applied Technology North and South would not have morning sessions, but would have afternoon sessions for students. Evening high school would operate on a normal schedule, and systemwide professional development scheduled for Wednesday afternoon would be canceled to accommodate the altered school schedule.
