Anne Arundel Medical Center Ranked Among 100 Best Hospitals In The U.S.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Newsweek recently ranked the Anne Arundel Medical Center as the 90th-best hospital in the United States. The Annapolis hospital, which is part of the Luminis Health system, announced the recognition on March 20.

“We’re honored to be ranked among the top 100 hospitals in the nation,” said Sherry Perkins, president of Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center. “We thank our community for the trust they have put in our hospital for 120 years.”

In partnership with Statista Inc., Newsweek ranked hospitals based on medical expert feedback and patient experience surveys. The rankers also considered medical key performance indicators like patient safety, hygiene measures and quality of treatment.

The Anne Arundel Medical Center scored 66.30%.

“The responses from our patients mean the world to us caregivers,” said Dr. Stephen Cattaneo, president of the medical staff at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center. “This recognition highlights the level of care and compassion shown by our team members, and demonstrates the on-going commitment of our mission, which is to enhance the health of the people and communities we serve.”

The Anne Arundel Medical Center was one of seven Maryland hospitals that cracked the top 400 in the nation. These were the other six facilities and their scores:

• No. 4 The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore (86.55%)
• No. 58 Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore (69.01%)
• No. 75 University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore (67.32%)
• No. 137 University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson (65.62%)
• No. 292 MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore (63.03%)
• No. 321 MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore (62.71%)

Newsweek also ranked The Johns Hopkins hospital as the 6th-best in the world. That was the only Maryland hospital named among the top 250 medical centers around the globe.
