Anne Arundel Schools Cancel Outdoor Activities Due To Air Quality
Nearly all of Maryland remains under alerts for unhealthy air quality Thursday as smoke from Canadian wildfires lingers.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Officials at Anne Arundel County Public Schools canceled outdoor activities Thursday due to ongoing air quality issues in the area.
According to a statement on social media, school officials said the cancellation affects in-school and after-school activities.
"Please check with schools about alternate arrangements for such events," the district wrote.

Hazardous air quality and pollutant exposure placed nearly all of Maryland under alerts for unhealthy air quality Thursday as smoke from Canadian wildfires lingers are expected to linger into the weekend, officials said.
On Thursday, the Maryland Department of the Environment issued a Code Red Air Quality Alert for the Baltimore-Annapolis region. The alert — covering the I-95 corridor in Maryland, D.C. and Northern Virginia — means air pollution concentrations within the region are unhealthy for the general population.
The District of Columbia, the city of Baltimore and Cecil, Baltimore, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Charles, St. Marys, Calvert, Montgomery, Howard and Harford are in the Code Red area, the National Weather Service said.
