Anne Arundel Schools Make Decision On Saturday Activities
BREAKING: Anne Arundel County Public Schools are changing schedules with snowy roads expected on Saturday morning.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — With forecasts calling for snowy roads much of Saturday and hazardous weather conditions expected overnight and into the morning, Anne Arundel County Public Schools is canceling activities for Saturday, Dec. 9.
The National Weather Service has issued issued a winter weather advisory for the Baltimore-Washington area calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow. The winter weather advisory lasts from midnight to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9.
The school system said in a Friday email:

Due to the updated forecast calling for accumulating snow beginning late tonight and continuing into tomorrow, all school-sponsored activities scheduled for Saturday, December 9, are canceled. This includes ACT administration at Meade and Southern high schools, and the magnet program auditions and interviews at Bates Middle School. Activities scheduled for this evening, Friday, December 8, will go on as scheduled. For the status of any activity sponsored by an agency other than Anne Arundel County Public Schools, please check with that agency.
Snow accumulations may be between 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible, according to the weather service. Snow will begin southeast of D.C. Friday evening mixed with rain. While projections may change, snow is forecast to move from the southeast to the northwest, with the heaviest snow falling Saturday morning and tapering off in the afternoon, the weather service advised.

- Avoid driving while you're fatigued. Getting the proper amount of rest before taking on winter weather tasks reduces driving risks.
- Never run a vehicle in an enclosed area, such as a garage.
- Make certain your tires are properly inflated.
- Keep your gas tank at least half full.
- If possible, avoid using your parking brake in cold, rainy and snowy weather.
- Do not use cruise control when driving on any slippery surface (wet, ice, sand).
- Always look and steer where you want to go.
- Use your seat belt every time you get into your vehicle.
