Anne Arundel Schools Make Weather Call For Friday, Feb. 1

BREAKING: Anne Arundel County Public Schools have altered the schedule for Friday, Feb. 1.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Schools will be letting out early on Friday, Feb. 1. Officials from Anne Arundel County Public Schools made the decision Friday morning.

All Anne Arundel County Public Schools will close two hours early Friday, officials said about 10 a.m.. There will be no afternoon half-day sessions of pre-kindergarten or ECI classes.

In addition, all school-sponsored after-school activities scheduled for Friday, including evening middle school and high school classes, are canceled.

For the status of activities sponsored by agencies other than Anne Arundel County Public Schools, including after-school day care, check with that agency.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for northern and central Maryland, including Anne Arundel County. The advisory calls for snow that could make roads and sidewalks slippery.

The winter weather advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1. Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard and Montgomery counties, as well as Baltimore City, are under the advisory.

About 1 inch of snow is anticipated, with locally higher amounts of 2 inches near the Mason-Dixon Line.
