Anne Arundel Schools Open Feb. 21 With Eye On Weather

ANNAPOLIS, MD — All public schools and offices in Anne Arundel County will open late Thursday, Feb. 21, the school system announced late Wednesday afternoon. AACPS crews worked into the night and will be at schools early Thursday morning to continue to clear lots and drives.

Any changes will be announced through normal channels, officials said, which includes a call to families, the school district website and Twitter.

Schools were closed in Anne Arundel County and around the region Wednesday due to snow; 5.5 inches of snow was measured in Columbia at noon, based on preliminary data submitted to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Anne Arundel County until 7 p.m. on Wednesday because of freezing rain that could make roads slippery.
