Annapolis Woman Critically Burned In House Fire
An Annapolis home did not have working smoke alarms when it caught fire; a homeowner was critically burned, officials say.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Annapolis home did not have working smoke alarms when it caught fire Thursday morning, leaving a homeowner with critical burn injuries, officials say. Anne Arundel County Fire crews were called just before 8:30 a.m. to the blaze in the 1700 block of Old Generals Highway.
Firefighters found fire on the first floor of a two-story single-family dwelling. A 44-year-old woman who lives in the home was critically burned, but had evacuated the home before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters from Anne Arundel County and Annapolis City extinguished the fire in less than 10 minutes, according to a news release.

Paramedics requested a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter to take the injured resident to a hospital. The helicopter landed at the nearby Eisenhower Golf Course on Generals Highway and the woman was flown to the Burn Center at John Hopkins Bayview Hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit. There were no other injuries reported.
