Arrest Made in Shooting at Bens Drive Apartment: Police

Annapolis Police have charged a man with attempted murder for allegedly shooting an Annapolis man in the torso.

An Annapolis man has been charged with attempted murder in the weekend shooting of a man in the outside an apartment building on Bens Drive, police say.

Annapolis Police arrested Milton Colbert, 30, of Annapolis on Tuesday and charged him with Saturday’s shooting.

Officers were called to the unit block of Bens Drive just after 1:30 a.m. June 13, where William Saunders, 26, of Annapolis, had been shot once in the torso. He was taken to Baltimore Shock Trauma by helicopter. He is currently in serious condition, authorities say.

Colbert was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and several firearms violations. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
