Attempted Murder Charges Filed In Annapolis Street Gunfire

A man who reportedly shot at two men in a car instead hit two Annapolis houses, police said Thursday.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A man who reportedly fired off gunshots Tuesday night in Annapolis — striking at least two houses but no people — was arrested on an attempted murder charge, police say.

Tyrone Thomas, 22, of Annapolis was arrested Thursday for allegedly firing shots on Clay and Pleasant Streets on Tuesday night. Two homes were struck by bullets, but no injuries were reported. Thomas targeted a vehicle with two occupants, shooting at them while they fled from him, Annapolis Police said.

“The fast actions and thorough investigation of this case by our officers and detectives led to Thomas’ arrest,” said Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop. “Their dedication and the help of the community shows the commitment to fighting violent crime in Annapolis."

The gunfire was reported about 10:30 p.m. by residents. Along with two homes that had been struck by bullets, officers also found that three parked vehicles were struck by a vehicle leaving the area during the incident.

“To be successful in combating violent crime, we must continue to nurture the relationship between our communities and our police force,” Mayor Michael Pantelides said. “I am proud of the reaction time based on the combined efforts of the residents and our dedicated police force.”
