Back To School: AACPS 2022-2023 Calendar Offers 3 Long Breaks For Students

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — There's plenty of summer vacation left, but families may want to look ahead at the upcoming academic calendar. Here are some important dates for Anne Arundel County Public Schools during the 2022 to 2023 year.

First Day Of School: Grades 1 to 5, 6 and 9 head back on Monday, Aug. 29. The remaining grades start class on Tuesday, Aug. 30. ECI, pre-K and kindergarten have staggered start times from Monday, Aug. 29 through Wednesday, Sept. 7. Those openings are posted at this link.

Thanksgiving Break: The last day of class before the break is Friday, Nov. 18. Thanksgiving break begins Saturday, Nov. 19 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 27. Students won't return until Monday, Nov. 28.

Winter Break: The final day of school ahead of winter break is Thursday, Dec. 22. Schools are closed from Friday, Dec. 23 through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023. Classes resume Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.

Spring Break: The last day of school before spring break is Friday, March 31, 2023. The break starts Saturday, April 1, 2023 and goes through Monday, April 10, 2023. Students return Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Last Day For Seniors: Graduating seniors finish their classes on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Last Day For Other Students: All the other students are scheduled to wrap up on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Students will also be off on:

• Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day)
• Monday, Sept. 26 (Rosh Hashanah)
• Wednesday, Oct. 5 (Yom Kippur)
• Tuesday, Nov. 8 (Election Day)
• Monday, Jan. 16, 2023 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023 (Semester break)
• Monday, Feb. 20, 2023 (Presidents Day)
• Friday, April 21, 2023 (Eid al-Fitr)
• Thursday, May 25, 2023 (ECI, pre-K and kindergarten are closed for conferences. All other grades have class this day.)
• Friday, May 26, 2023 (ECI, pre-K and kindergarten are closed for conferences. All other grades have class this day.)
• Monday, May 29, 2023 (Memorial Day)

There will be two-hour early dismissals on:

• Wednesday, Oct. 19 (Project unity day and professional development)
• Thursday, Oct. 20 (Parent-teacher conferences)
• Thursday, Nov. 3 (End of first marking period)
• Friday, Nov. 4 (End of first marking period)
• Wednesday, Dec. 7 (Project unity day and professional development)
• Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 (End of second marking period)
• Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023 (End of second marking period)
• Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023 (Project unity day and professional development)
• Friday, March 3, 2023 (Parent-teacher conferences)
• Wednesday, March 29, 2023 (Project unity day and professional development)
• Thursday, March 30, 2023 (End of third marking period)
• Friday, March 31, 2023 (End of third marking period)
• Thursday, June 15, 2023 (End of fourth marking period)
• Friday, June 16, 2023 (End of fourth marking period)

There will not be any afternoon ECI or pre-K on most days that there is a two-hour early dismissal. The only exceptions are Thursday, June 15, 2023 and Friday, June 16, 2023. There will not be any half-day ECI and pre-K on those dates.

Classes will start two hours late on Thursday, March 2, 2023 for parent-teacher conferences. There will not be any morning ECI or pre-K on this day.

Students will get report cards on:

• Thursday, Nov. 17 (Grades 1 through 12)
• Friday, Feb. 3, 2023 (Pre-K through grade 12)
• Thursday, April 20, 2023 (Grades 1 through 12 )
• End of the school year: (Pre-K through grade 12)

Sports seasons start on:

• Fall: Wednesday, Aug. 10
• Winter: Tuesday, Nov. 15
• Spring: Wednesday, March 1, 2023
