Bag Left At Burglary Scene Ties Annapolis Man To 2 Crimes: Police

Annapolis Police twice arrested a man on Saturday for stealing, first from an unlocked car and then from a home's open window.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A few hours after he was arrested for stealing a woman's purse from her vehicle, an Annapolis man was again arrested, when a bag with his belongings was reportedly found outside a house where electronics had been stolen, authorities say. Annapolis Police charged Jeremy Cox, 32, of Annapolis, in both thefts on Saturday.

The first theft was reported at 1:20 p.m. in the 200 block of West Street, where a woman reported that when she left her vehicle briefly with the window down she saw a man reach into the vehicle and steal her purse. Officers quickly located Cox, who matched the theft suspect's description given by the victim. He was identified as the man who grabbed the woman's purse.

Officers searched Cox and allegedly found items from the stolen purse in his pockets. Cox showed officers where he had discarded the purse and all the items were returned to the victim.
