Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts:
Your next wish grants you the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with Clara in
December as she once again takes us to the magical lands of The Nutcracker, where you
can discover the wonder of this timeless holiday tradition again. Allow yourself to be
magically swept away by young Clara’s adventures to rescue her beloved Nutcracker
from the Rat Queen’s evil spell. Travel with Clara through the whirling Kingdoms of
Snow and Sweets to the place where the possibility of dreams, the magic of Christmas,
and the wonder of the child merge through the powerful language of dance and
Tchaikovsky’s breathtaking music. Performances are slated for December 9 and 16 at
7:00 p.m. and December 10 and 17 with two performances both days at 1:00 and 4:30
p.m. And, of course, you can attend one of our enormously popular Sugar Plum Fairy
Parties one hour prior to each of our Sunday matinees on December 10 and 17, FREE,
with your ticket purchase.
Additional 2014-2015 Statewide Choices:
As we enter our 39th Season, Ballet Theatre of Maryland is continuing to take the steps
necessary for it to live up to its name and mission of being the only fully professional
ballet company of national renown to serve and represent the entire state of Maryland.
The Lyric in Baltimore:
Our triumphant, collaborative debut to a nearly sold out house at the Modell Lyric
Theatre in Baltimore in 2013 and again in 2014 and 2015 brought BTM an award
from Maryland’s House of Delegates for Artistic Excellence in elevating the quality of
art throughout Maryland. In 2016, BTM made its debut as a resident company at the
Lyric presenting the Nutcracker and Excalibur. BTM’s exciting, romantic, exuberant,
traditional version of The Nutcracker returns to the Lyric on December 23 with 2
performances. New choreography and spectacular new sets add to the charm and
magic as BTM in partnership with the Lyric lights up the Baltimore stage.
Purchase Tickets: 1:00 PM, 5:00 PM
Bowie Center for the Performing Arts:
Rounding out the season’s “Wish List” is our continued collaboration with the
Bowie Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) and the City of Bowie when BTM
returns with The Nutcracker on Thanksgiving weekend. If you are looking for
something special for your family to do on this official start of the Holidays, you could
be among the first to discover the wonder of this timeless holiday tradition at BTM’s
opening performances of Tchaikovsky’s most famous “classic.” Performances are
November 25 @ 7:00 p.m. and November 26 @ 2:00 p.m.
