(Updated) Baltimore Teen Identified, Fatally Hit By Car in Linthicum

Anne Arundel County Police say a 14-year-old boy who was walking on a Linthicum road was hit and killed by a car Friday night.

Linthicum, MD — A Baltimore boy who died after he was hit by a car Friday night on a Linthicum road has been identified, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

The crash happened about 11 p.m. on Camp Meade Road in the area of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Linthicum. Investigators say a 2017 Audi Q7 driven by Jonathan T. Smalls, 33, of Baltimore, was westbound on Camp Meade Road when it encountered a teenage pedestrian in the roadway.

Danshaun Artay Wells, 14, of Key Ave in Baltimore, was outside of the road’s crosswalk, police say. The Audi attempted to avoid the teen, but was unable to do so and struck the youth.



Smalls stopped after striking the pedestrian and remained at the scene, officers said. The injured pedestrian was taken to John Hopkins Pediatrics, where he died from his injuries.

Authorities have not released the boy’s name.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be pedestrian error; he was outside of the crosswalk area and wearing all dark clothing, police said. Speed or alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash.

Any charges are pending review by the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s office.
