A little over two years ago I welcomed my sixth child. Happy, healthy and perfect just like the five before him. A few days later I picked up the phone to hear that an amazing family had lost their first son. My husband and I agonized for days over whether or not we would attend the funeral. As this family was mourning my family was in the bliss that a new baby brings. In the end we went, I sat quietly listening with my seven day old baby to the grief and joy of having known and lost this little boy.
Ilan was just over a year old when he left this earth. Ilan was born with Peroxisomal Disorder a rare genetic disease. In his year his parents had made the decision to enjoy their time with him and their strength was awe inspiring.
Two years later this family has found a place of happiness through the pain. They have welcomed one of the sweetest little boys I have had the honor to meet and they have started a marathon in Ilan's name, the Ilan-A-Thon. Which brings me to the point of this post. This holiday season I will be donating 100% of my commissions to the second annual Ilan-A-Thon. Learn more here: http://www.ilanathon.org/
From today until the first of the year I will donate every dollar of commission to next years marathon.
