Best, Worst Times To Drive To Eastern Shore Sept. 19-22

The popular Sunfest in Ocean City will be held Sept. 19-22 and will cause traffic issues, officials advise.

OCEAN CITY, MD — For four days this week, Marylanders will flock to Ocean City and enjoy food, fun, music and arts and crafts at Sunfest. The influx of guests also will cause traffic issues, the Maryland Department of Transportation warns.

The festival runs from Thursday, Sept. 19, through Sunday, Sept. 22. The MDTA will monitor traffic conditions and, weather permitting, implement two-way operations on the westbound span to help alleviate eastbound delays.

The MDTA also encourages motorists to travel off-peak. The best times to travel this weekend are:

  • Thursday and Friday before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
  • Saturday before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  • Sunday before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
