Body Found of Elderly Man Missing at Sandy Point State Park

A Pennsylvania man on a trip from his group home to Sandy Point State Park went missing Tuesday; his body has been recovered, officials say.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The body of an elderly Pennsylvania man who went missing while on a trip to Sandy Point State Park has been found, authorities say.

Maryland Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thompson said Burns Brabham, 71, was on a trip to the park with his group home from Pennsylvania.

When the group got ready to leave the park about 3 p.m. Tuesday, leaders noticed he was missing and called police.

Searchers found Brabham’s body late Wednesday afternoon, the agency said on Twitter.

Brabham suffered from mental illness, was not familiar with the area and was legally blind, authorities said.

Natural Resources Police officers, along with park rangers and state police, searched the water, woods and numerous areas of the park. A state police helicopter with infrared capabilities, as well as search dogs, also assisted in the search for Brabham.
