Body of Missing Boater Found in Bay: Police

The body of an Upper Marlboro man missing since his boat sank Sunday was found in the Bay Wednesday.

A boater has found the body of a Prince George’s County man missing since his boat sank near the Bay Bridge during a weekend fishing trip, authorities say.

Maryland Natural Resources Police said Wednesday afternoon that the body of Adrian Perez, 46, of Upper Marlboro, was recovered. The medical examiner’s office in Baltimore will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

A charter boat about two miles north of where Perez went missing found Perez’s body, authorities told The Washington Post.

Authorities say four children, Perez and another adult were on a fishing trip Sunday morning when their boat was swamped and sank in water that is about 60 feet deep. Five people on the 17-foot center console boat were rescued by a good samaritan on a sailboat, according to NRP officials. The location of the boat that sank is unknown.

Perez’s boat launched from Sandy Point State Park and sunk stern first. No one on the boat had time to put on lifejackets.

A Coast Guard Station Annapolis boat crew and a Coast Guard Auxiliary boat crew picked up the four children and an adult and took them to shore for medical treatment.

Police believed Perez was likely dead by Sunday afternoon, but the search continued into Tuesday, the Post says.
