ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Annapolis Dragon Boat Club is heading to New Zealand in early April for an international rowing competition, Chesapeake Bay Magazine reported.

These rowers have more in common than just their love for the water. They are also breast cancer patients and survivors, the magazine said. The rowers told journalist Cheryl Costello that the exercise improves heart conditions stemming from their cancer treatment.

"I had an enlarged heart from the chemo," rower Chandra Jackson told the magazine. "Dragon Boat racing, because of the strenuous activity, honestly saved my life."
