Burglar Locks 2 Children Inside House: Annapolis Police

Two children who were home alone were locked inside with a burglar armed with a knife, say Annapolis Police.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Two children who were home alone were locked inside with a burglar armed with a knife, say Annapolis Police. The break-in happened shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday when a man the youths didn't know entered their apartment in the 1100 block of Madison Street through the unlocked apartment door.

Authorities say the man, later identified as Larenzo Martin, 32, of Annapolis, locked the door to the apartment once he was inside and approached the juveniles carrying a spring-loaded knife. The youths fled to a bedroom, locked the door, and called police. When officers arrived the door to the apartment was still locked, but they were able to help the children leave the apartment through a window.

Officers entered the apartment and found Martin was still inside. He was arrested and officers reportedly found a knife in his pocket.
