To recap what happened in the last post, Luke and Lauren have decided to start house hunting. They have identified what is important to them in a home and are ready to make the move. They got their lender in line, their loan prequalification letter in hand and they were ready to go.
Their next step was to find a realtor. Here is how it they went about it.
"Our parents gave us plenty of suggestions but we really wanted to find someone ourselves. One weekend while we were looking at open houses we met Sarah Garza at a townhouse she was trying to sell. We liked her personality immediately. She wasn't too pushy while we were viewing but was bubbly and very nice. She loved that we were first time home buyers. Luke and I talked that night, and after deciding that the townhouse where we met her wasn't right for us, we did decide we were ready to move forward with house hunting! Sarah called us the next day to see if we were interested in the property she was selling, we said no but that we really liked her and would like to schedule a meeting with her to go over what we were looking for and to get a sense of her personality. The following weekend we had a meeting and it went very well. Sarah was very organized, friendly and seemed to understand what we were looking for. She was honest with us and we all went over what we wanted in a home. She didn't make us sign paperwork at that moment to indicate that she will be our only realtor. She wanted to take us out house touring first, to see if we really could all work together, then we would re-visit signing that paperwork.
It only took one day of house tours for us to like Sarah and know she is perfect as our realtor.
That same day we saw 5 houses. It was really exciting to get out there and tour the houses privately so we can really let our thoughts fly. Sarah was very honest and open after we gave our opinions on the houses. It was great to know we are all on the same page. We really liked the second house and went to go see it the next day with our parents. We decided to put an offer on the house because we loved it! It was a great location, size, and had a bunch of the extra's that we were looking for. That very night we put our very first offer in!" - Luke and Lauren
Wow! 2nd house and they wanted to put an offer in! They couldn't believe how fast they found something.
Tune in to see what happened!
Let me ask you this...
How do you pick your Realtor? Working with a Realtor can make your house buying or selling experience a much smoother transaction, as long as you pick the right one that works well with you.
You should interview several Realtors before you decide to commit to such an important relationship.
What are some questions you might ask? What would be some important attributes a Realtor might offer?
