Free Introductory Tai Chi Class

Free Introductory Tai Chi Class

In celebration of World Tai Chi & Qigong Day AND the Year of the Snake, we are hosting this free class that is open to all levels of fitness.

The "Coiling Energy" in Tai Chi refers to a specific quality of energy that embodies spiraling, fluid movements, much like the coiling and uncoiling of a snake. It’s integral to Tai Chi forms and symbolizes strength, flexibility, and control. Here are some of its key benefits:

  1. Enhanced Flexibility and Mobility: The coiling, twisting motions stretch and strengthen muscles, joints, and tendons, improving overall range of motion and reducing stiffness.
  2. Improved Energy Flow: This spiraling energy aligns with the concept of Qi (life energy) flow in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The coiling movements are believed to unblock and harmonize energy pathways, promoting vitality. Like it does for a snake, the coiled position allows the tai chi practitioner efficiently store potential energy.
  3. Increased Core Strength: The twisting motions activate deep core muscles, helping to stabilize the spine and improve posture over time.
  4. Stress Reduction: The meditative, deliberate nature of practicing Coiling Snake Energy helps calm the mind, reducing stress and anxiety.
  5. Martial Applications: In Tai Chi as a martial art, the coiling energy allows for effective redirection of an opponent’s force, as well as the generation of powerful strikes.
  6. Cultivation of Balance and Coordination: The spiraling movements train body awareness, enhancing balance and the ability to coordinate complex motions.

This energy captures the essence of Tai Chi's soft yet powerful approach—blending grace, precision, and fluidity.

Are you aware of the many health benefits of practicing tai chi? It improves: immune system function, blood pressure, blood sugar, mood, arthritis pain, balance, bone density, strength. flexibility, and more. For additional information about tai chi, go to http://www.jingying.org/TaiChi.htm
