Discussion about Church and State case studies

Discussion about Church and State case studies

Join the discussion about the relationship between Church and State at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church’s adult forum at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the church’s Parish Hall, 199 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, Md.

As part of its ministries, St. Anne’s partners with many groups. Parishioners representing these groups will lead the discussion about Church and State case studies. Groups include the Maryland Episcopal Public Policy Network (MEPPN), Anne Arundel Connecting Together (ACT), and St. Anne’s Green Team.

The Maryland Episcopal Public Policy Network “is the advocacy arm of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland.” St. Anne’s parishioners who volunteer with the group learn about community issues, such as education, healthcare, housing and the environment. They can then educate others about the issues and work to influence state legislation and public policy.

Anne Arundel Connecting Together brings together diverse groups in Anne Arundel County that identify community needs by listening to people within communities and working with them to improve people's lives. ACT emphasizes how listening is the first step in every change campaign.

St. Anne’s Green Team addresses environmental issues from a faith perspective. It works closely with other Green Teams.

The public is invited to attend this forum, and the next forum which will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Parish Hall. On Nov. 1, the guest speaker will be the Rt. Rev. Ann Ritonia, Bishop Suffragan for the Armed Forces & Federal Ministries of the Episcopal Church. She will talk about “Theology of Military Chaplaincy: Spiritual Care & Leadership in War and Peace.”
