ANNAPOLIS, MD — City officials said an accidental car fire extended to an Annapolis townhouse and set the home ablaze over the weekend. The fire displaced three children and three adults, but nobody was hurt. Authorities estimated that the flames caused $65,000 in damage.

Crews heard about the fire in the 600 block of Cutter Court around 1:22 p.m. on Friday. The occupants escaped safely before firefighters arrived. First responders said they found the SUV on fire with flames spreading to the exterior of the two-story townhome.

About 50 firefighters controlled the one-alarm blaze in roughly 12 minutes. The team said it kept the flames from spreading to the inside of the home, which had working smoke detectors.
