Car Plunges 75 Feet into Creek; Woman Critically Hurt

Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the Thanksgiving Day Annapolis crash.

Police say excessive speed and alcohol caused a car to crash into a bridge and plunge 75 feet into the creek below, critically injuring an Annapolis woman on Thanksgiving.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 2:14 a.m. on Aris T. Allen Boulevard (MD-665) near Solomons Island Road (MD-2) in Annapolis. Anne Arundel County Police say weather was not a factor.

Investigators say a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta was westbound on Aris T. Allen Boulevard when it struck the bridge structure at Church Creek, overturned and dropped about 75 feet into the creek below.
