Charles Raymond Houghton, 81, of Annapolis

Charles Raymond Houghton “Charlie”, 81, a three-year resident of Annapolis and formerly a resident of Herald Harbour and Chestnut Hill Cove, died on Saturday, August 1 at his home.

Born on June 9, 1934 in West Virginia, Charlie was a meat cutter with several local grocery stores. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, sports, bird watching and going to the Eastern Shore.

Charlie will be greatly missed by his loved ones, Annie, Nick, Tara and Buddy the Dog. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Houghton.

Charlie is survived by his longtime companion, Annette Cavaselis Strauss; his sisters, Joann Tyner and Nancy (Rusty) Adams and two nieces, Karen and Sheila.

A graveside military service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road in Crownsville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122 or Partners in Care, 90-B Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
