Chesapeake Bay Bridge Under Wind Warning, Check Status
Expect delays Friday, March 30, on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which is under a wind warning.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Two-way traffic has been prohibited at times Friday, March 30, on the Bay Bridge, which is under a wind warning. Eastbound drivers should expect afternoon delays, state transportation officials said. Drivers should use caution crossing bridges Friday afternoon in Maryland, particularly three of them, due to high winds. The Chesapeake Bay, Hatem and Tydings bridges are under wind warnings.
The Maryland Transportation Authority reported the wind warnings were in effect after 2 p.m. Triggered by 30 to 39 mph winds, wind warnings mean drivers of the following vehicles should use extra caution while crossing the bridge: house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds.
Officials urged drivers to keep travel speeds down and both hands on the steering wheel during these conditions. Speed limits are based on normal road and weather conditions, not hazardous road conditions. Wind gusts are unpredictable.
