These endorsements are in addition to the endorsements of incumbents Pete Smith for County Council District 1 and Andrew Pruski for County Council District 4, which were announced earlier this month.
“Each of these candidates is committed to a cleaner environment. Each candidate has strong leadership skills and will do an excellent job on the Council” said Kincey Potter, Steering Committee Co-Chair. “We make endorsements to help County voters make good decisions as to which candidates can be expected to make environmental issues a priority.”

Endorsements are based on responses to questionnaires sent to every candidate for County Council, interviews conducted with the candidates, candidates’ past positions on environmental issues and consultation with other conservation organizations.
The Steering Committee believes that polluted waterways and increasing development pressures in Anne Arundel County make it imperative that voters elect candidates who understand the public health and economic importance of a clean environment. The endorsements are one way to educate the public about these issues.
“We continue to monitor the races in Districts 3 and 5 where we also have very strong candidates,” explained Bob Gallagher, Steering Committee Co-chair, “and decisions in the County executive race should be announced in April.”
