Cooling Center to Open in Annapolis for Second Day
Residents can get out of the heat by taking refuge Monday at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center.

With the temperatures expected to reach the upper 90s on Monday, a cooling center will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center, 273 Hilltop Lane in Annapolis.
The Annapolis weather forecast calls for “feels like” temperatures of 105 by late afternoon. The city is under a heat advisory with highs expected to reach into the upper 90s on Monday, for a second straight day.

The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation where heat illnesses are possible.
If you have neighbors or know of someone who lives without air conditioning, city officials urge you to check on them or offer them a cooler place to stay. A cool indoor location is the best defense against heat-related illness.

Never leave small children or pets unattended in vehicles. Temperatures inside the vehicle can rapidly climb to 130 degrees.
Residents using the facility as a cooling center will not have access to recreation activities.
