Cops Bag Accused Heroin Dealer, Funyuns Stash

Annapolis Police charged a man with drug trafficking after reportedly finding 37 baggies of heroin in a snack food bag.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A bag of Funyuns gave a whole new meaning to junk food when Annapolis Police found bags of heroin inside the package.

On Wednesday, Annapolis Police officers received information from the Drug Enforcement Unit that the passenger in a cab possessed illegal drugs. Police stopped the cab on Forest Hills Avenue and identified the passenger as Corben Johnson, 25, of Annapolis.

Inside a Funyuns snack food bag that Johnson was holding, officers reportedly found 37 baggies of suspected heroin weighing about 26 grams. The drug field-tested positive for heroin.

Johnson also had $290 cash in his pants pockets.

Police charged Johnson with possession of a narcotic with intent to distribute and possession of drugs.

He was released from the Jennifer Road Detention Center after posting $75,000 bond.

In 2015, County Executive Steve Schuh declared heroin addiction a public health emergency in Anne Arundel County, which is experiencing more than one overdose a day and a fatality a week.
