County Heath Department Offering Opioid Overdose Training
The Anne Arundel County Health Department is offering opioid overdose response training to the community in Annapolis and Glen Burnie.

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Anne Arundel County Department of Health wants to better equip people to respond in the event of an opioid overdose happening to someone they know. There will be free training offered to community members on July 9, Aug. 6 and Sept. 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. at 3 Harry S. Truman Pkwy, and July 11, Aug. 8 and Sept. 10 from 10 to 11 a.m. in Glen Burnie at 122 North Langley Rd.
Attendees will learn how to use intranasal naloxone to reverse an opioid overdose and prevent death. Trainees also will receive a free nalaoxone nasal kit to keep on hand in the event of an emergency.
Ideal attendees include at-risk individuals and their family members, friends and associates, along with staff and volunteers with treatment programs, recovery services and transitional housing, and anyone who works with the public.

They will learn what an opioid is, how to recognize, respond to and prevent an opioid overdose, how to administer the naloxone intranasally, and better understand the Good Samaritan law, treatment and recovery services, and family support.
