Crackdown on Drunk, Aggressive Drivers Over Labor Day Weekend

Maryland state troopers plan to focus on Anne Arundel County roads looking for problem drivers en route to and from Ocean City.

If your holiday plans include one last weekend at the beach, consider this your warning.

Maryland state troopers will target aggressive drivers in Anne Arundel County on their way to and from Ocean City over the Labor Day weekend.

Operation Showboat will target aggressive drivers on Route 50 from Anne Arundel County to Ocean City, as well as U.S. Route 13 in Wicomico, Somerset, and Worcester counties. Operation Millipede will focus its efforts on I-95 from the Delaware Line to the Virginia Line.

With cheaper gas prices this holiday, the Maryland State Police are preparing for an increase in traffic. Troopers remind drivers to remove distractions from their vehicles, and never drink and drive.

These high visibility enforcement efforts are to reduce the number of aggressive driving motor vehicle crashes in which speed, alcohol and other driving violations are contributing factors to crashes on Maryland roads, the department says.
