Crownsville Teen Vies For The Title Of Miss Maryland Agriculture

A Crownsville teen will grace the stage Aug. 22 as she competes for the title of Miss Maryland Agriculture at the Maryland State Fair.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Teen Olivia Velthuis of Crownsville will be representing Anne Arundel County in the 80th annual Miss Maryland Agriculture Contest on Thursday, Aug. 22, in the Cow Palace at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Lutherville-Timonium.

As Miss Anne Arundel County, Velthuis will participate in the contest that begins at 7:30 p.m. before a 6:30 p.m. dinner. The contest is free for the community to attend but the dinner requires tickets. Velthuis's family is a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau, which hosts the contest. During the Maryland State Fair, the girls will take part in the two-day contest, which includes an on-stage public speaking event. Velthuis was crowned the 2017-2018 Poultry Princess in the past.
