Man Arrested In Theft Of Dog From SPCA Of Anne Arundel County
A Glen Burnie man faces several charges including burglary and theft after the shelter was burglarized and a dog stolen; it's been returned.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The SPCA of Anne Arundel County reported that a dog was stolen from the Bay Ridge Avenue location in Annapolis after the shelter was broken into sometime between 5:30 p.m. May 1 and 7:30 a.m. May 2. According to the Annapolis Police Department, someone cut the lock to a gate leading to the dog kennels located outside. The suspect cut the lock on two separate kennels containing dogs.
According to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, kennels were damaged and multiple dogs were released. All dogs initially were recovered except for a female named Maxxi, described as tall and thin, approximately 68 pounds, tan and white, and microchipped.
"The damage to the building was substantial and needs extensive repairs, but right now we need your help in finding Maxxi. We believe she was stolen and are offering a reward for any information that leads to the identification of the persons responsible and the successful return of this precious dog," the shelter stated in a release.

On May 2 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a citizen called the police department to report an individual walking a dog that looked like Maxxi. Officers responded and were able to confirm via microchip that the dog was indeed Maxxi. Rashaun Butler, 24, of Glen Burnie was arrested and charged with burglary and theft along with three other criminal charges related to the incident.
