Doris Elaine McGuckian 'Elaine', 64, of Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Doris Elaine McGuckian “Elaine”, 64, a resident of Annapolis for 60 years, died on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at her home after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer one month ago.

Born on February 14, 1951 in Franklin County, VA, to the late Ora Elsie Quinn and Grover Cleveland Boyd, Elaine was adopted at five years of age by the late Sinsel and Stella Morris of Annapolis. She worked as a bartender at Middleton Tavern in Annapolis for 40 years and in her spare time loved reading, crossword puzzles, lying by the pool and snuggling with her beloved dogs.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her former husband, Michael S. Steadman Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip P. McGuckian, whom she married on June 9, 1996; her children, Michael S. Steadman Jr. and Alexis A. Bedingfield, both of Annapolis; her sisters, A.A. Boyd of Annapolis and Clevie Ora Morris of Edgewater, and her grandchildren, Atticus L., Quinn J. and Tibet C. Bedingfield.

Friends are invited to celebrate Elaine’s life from 1 p.m. until her memorial service begins at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.
