Dorothy "Dottie" Mary Nickerson, 87, of Annapolis

Dorothy “Dottie” Mary Nickerson, a 43-year resident of Annapolis, died at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 23, after a brief illness. She was 87 years old.

Born March 31, 1928 in Boston, she traveled the world with her husband and six children.

She was the beloved wife of the late William S. Nickerson Jr., who died on April 2, 2007; devoted mother of Lee Nickerson of Fairfax Station, VA, Melanie A. and Daniel W. Nickerson, both of Annapolis, MD, James Brian Nickerson of Linden, VA and the late William S. Nickerson III and Charles C. Nickerson; loving mother-in-law of Linda, Brenda, Jami, Pamela and Leigh Nickerson; sister of Joseph Murphy of South Weymouth, MA, Eleanor O’Connor and Alice Molignano, both of East Weymouth, MA; grandmother of Colin, Beau, Matthew, Jonathan, Scott and Lindsey Nickerson; Courtney (Nikki) Scott, Lauren Tripp and Aliyana Reilly. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
