Driver Overdoses, Smashes Into Annapolis Business

A driver overdosed behind the wheel Wednesday, Annapolis Police said, and slammed into a business. His dog was also in the car.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A driver in the throes of an overdose was revived by Annapolis Police officers after his vehicle crashed into a car dealership Wednesday in the 1700 block of West Street. The unidentified driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment, while the driver's dog, which was along for the ride, was not hurt.

The accident happened about 12:30 p.m. and police found the driver was unconscious. Officers gave the driver two doses of Narcan before he was taken with non-life-threatening injuries to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Animal Control officers took the dog.

A building inspector who assessed the business said the accident didn't cause any structural damage.
