Wizardry, magic, sword-fights, warrior knights and princesses, the forces of dark versus the forces of light, romance, and betrayal ae all part of the Excalibur the Sword and the Stone tapestry. This powerful retelling of King Arthur’s legend from his birth, to his pulling the sword from the stone, through the creation of the Knights of the Round Table, and Camelot’s inevitable downfall, will mesmerize you. Set in stylistic Medieval, Classical and Contemporary dance form, the ballet depicts the tumultuous relationship between Arthur and his sister, the Priestess turned sorceress, Morgan Le Fey. Calder Taylor stars as the virtuous, but flawed Arthur who lives to see his dream of unity, truth, and light fulfilled and then lost through the dark designs of his half-sister Morgan, portrayed by Emily Brennan.

Accompanying BTM, Maggie Sansone plays her award winning score-live. “Maggie’s amalgamation of traditional with original Celtic, period music will mesmerize and transport you to Camelot in a hauntingly beautiful, portrayal of Medieval times,” says Artistic Director Dianna Cuatto. She with BTM’s talented dancers will bring Arthur and his knights to life onstage at Bowie Center for the Performing Arts in Bowie, MD.

Live music, a great story and a party all come together through the powerful language of dance as BTM lights up the BCPA with Excalibur the Sword and the Stone!
