Expect Road Closures In Annapolis July 27 Due To Triathlon
The 2nd annual Sailor's Triathlon July 27 will lead participants on a scenic tour of town and prompt road closures.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Motorists should prepare for road closures and traffic delays stemming from the second annual Sailor's Triathlon scheduled for July 27. The triathlon begins at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at City Dock's Susan Campbell Park.
After a 500-meter swim, participants will hop onto their bicycles and embark upon a 10.5-mile route through the Historic District, crossing into Anne Arundel County over the Naval Academy Bridge. From there, riders will circle back and end the ride at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial
Stadium. Next, runners will depart on a four-mile route back through the Historic District and onto the Naval Academy (Gate 1) grounds, then return to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
There will be rolling road closures during the event. Parking will be restricted on City Dock, in the area closest to Susan Campbell Park, from 9 a.m. on Friday to 9 a.m. on Saturday. Approximately 30 spaces will be restricted. Several roads will be closed on a rolling basis starting around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and ending around 9:25 a.m. Between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., the following roads will be closed or have lane restrictions during the bicycle portion of the event:
- Rolling road closures: Craig Street, Prince George Street, Randall Street, King George St. and Baltimore Boulevard
- Southbound lane closed along Gov. Ritchie Highway between Naval Academy Bridge and the intersection at B&A Boulevard
- Rolling road closures and lane limitations also will affect Taylor Avenue and Rowe Boulevard
Between 7:30 a.m. and 9:25 a.m., the following roads will be closed or have lane restrictions during the running portion of the event:

- Rolling road closures in Annapolis City: Taylor Avenue, Herbert Sachs Boulevard, Rowe Boulevard, Northwest Street, Church Circle., Main Street, Randall Street, King George Street (at Gate 1)
- Road restrictions on the U.S. Naval Academy: Cooper Road, Porter Road, Buchanan Road, Blake Road, Maryland Avenue, Decatur Road
- Rolling road closures in Annapolis City: Baltimore Boulevard/Annapolis Street, Taylor Avenue, and Rowe Boulevard
