ANNAPOLIS, MD — Two Annapolis banks on Church Circle had money stolen Thursday by a quick-change artist, authorities say.

The banks targeted were BB&T, 5 Church Circle, and Bank of America, 10 Church Circle, according to Annapolis Police. The thefts happened between 12:45 and 1 p.m.

A man entered the banks in quick succession and stole an undisclosed amount of money from each. No weapon or threat of force was used in either theft, police said.

The suspect used the same method to steal money at both banks. He asked a bank teller to trade $600 in $100 bills for $600 in $20 bills. After the money was exchanged, the man asked for the $100 bills back, but only gave the teller $380 in the $20 bills back.

He quickly left the bank before the teller could count the money. After counting it and realizing the theft, bank employees called police.

Officers learned that the same man visited the other bank on Church Circle before this theft occurred.

The man is described as a Hispanic male with light complexion, about 6’01”, 200 pounds, with short brown hair, no facial hair and last seen wearing a blue suit jacket with blue dress shirt and black tie.

He had a small pin affixed to the right lapel of the jacket and several gold rings on his fingers.
