Giant Adds Thousands Of Jobs To Help During Coronavirus

MARYLAND — The Giant Company plans to hire 3,000 team members, almost 10 percent of its total workforce, to meet the demand for groceries during the new coronavirus pandemic at its stores including Martin's Food Markets in Maryland. The positions are in its fulfillment centers and for drivers to support Giant Direct, its online grocery service that offers pickup and delivery. Giant Direct offers contactless pickup service at more than 130 Giant and Martin’s stores.

“At The Giant Company, our purpose is to connect families for a better future, and our mission is more vital now than ever before,” said Matthew Lutcavage, The Giant Company vice president of human resources, in a statement. “We’re committed to serving our communities and customers during this extraordinary time while helping our neighbors who are looking for work. Over the past two months, our incredible in-store and e-commerce team members have worked tirelessly to serve families, but the demand for online grocery keeps growing stronger."

To meet this demand, the company will add grocery pickup and delivery time slots. The company also will be enhancing its website to assist customers shopping online. To support social distancing, customers now can pick up prescriptions using the Giant Direct parking spaces at their local store. For senior customers who cannot come into the store, a complimentary USPS delivery option is also available.
