Giant, Wegmans, Harris Teeter: Thanksgiving 2017 Store Hours

Remembering to put every small item on a Thanksgiving dinner shopping list is never as simple as it sounds. Whether it's brown sugar for the sweet potatoes or rolls to sop up that turkey gravy, something always gets left off. Are any Maryland grocery stores open on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 23, and how about Black Friday, if you need to re-supply to feed visitors?

Some food stores in the region — Giant, Wegmans, Whole Foods and Safeway — are open on Thanksgiving, but close early, so check on individual stores for their hours. The day after, most return to normal operating hours. Other chains, including ALDI and Costco, are closed for the holiday. (See full list below.)

To help you know your go-to stores over the upcoming holiday, we have open and closed hours for stores, plus links to their websites. Here's a list of Thanksgiving and Black Friday hours for Maryland grocery chains, taken from their websites and emails to Patch. Some stores may vary.

Thanksgiving Store Hours

• Giant Foods: Stores will close at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The pharmacy will not be open on Thanksgiving Day. Stores reopen at 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.
• Harris Teeter: Harris Teeter stores will close at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day; stores will be open normal hours on Friday, Nov. 24.
• Wegmans: Stores will close at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and will reopen at 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.
• Safeway: Stores will close at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Locations will return to regular hours on Friday, Nov. 24; some are open 24 hours a day, some are open from 5 a.m. to midnight daily.
• Green Valley Marketplace: Stores in Elkridge and Arnold are open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
• Whole Foods: Hours: 7 am-3 pm on Thanksgiving.
• Weis Markets: Thanksgiving hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Friday, stores return to regular hours.
• Food Lion: Most stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. (depending on the store).
• ShopRite Supermarkets: Maryland stores will be open 6 am - 10 pm. on Monday.
• Trader Joes: All stores closed on Thanksgiving.
• Fresh Market: Open 8 a.m.-9 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
• MOMs My Organic Market: Stores will be open Thanksgiving, hours may be reduced, call ahead.
• ALDI: All stores are closed on Thanksgiving.
• Costco: All stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
• Sam's Club: All stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day.
• Walmart: Stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day and will unveil Black Friday deals at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23.
• Target: Stores open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving and close at midnight; stores re-open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
