Glen Burnie Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Annapolis Police say the failed robbery on an Annapolis street led to a shooting.

Annapolis Police have charged a Glen Burnie man with attempted murder in an armed robbery where the victim had no property to steal.

Deondray Cherry, 24, of Glen Burnie was arrested Wednesday and charged with a shooting that occurred May 14 in the unit block of Clay Street. Police say Cherry approached the adult male victim, who was standing in the area of Clay and Pleasant streets.

Authorities say Cherry had a gun and demanded property from the victim. After discovering the victim had no property, Cherry allegedly shot the man in the leg and fled the area. The victim was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center for his injury, and released.

Cherry was charged with attempted second-degree murder and 11 other criminal counts relating to the shooting. He is being held on $700,000 bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.
