Gov. Mandel to Lie in State for Viewing Wednesday
The body of former Maryland Gov. Marvin Mandel, who died Sunday, will be on view at the State House in Annapolis.

The body of former Maryland Gov. Marvin Mandel will lie in state for a public viewing at the Maryland State House in Annapolis on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Gov. Larry Hogan, along with other dignitaries and elected officials, will receive Gov. Mandel’s family at the State House at about 10 a.m., according to the governor’s website.
The viewing is open to the public at Maryland State House, 100 State Circle in Annapolis.

Mandel, 95, died Sunday after spending the weekend visiting with his family and the family of his former wife, Jeanne Dorsey Mandel, while celebrating the 50th birthday of their son, Paul Dorsey, the family said in a statement.

Hogan has ordered flags to fly at half-staff in honor of the former governor, and offered his condolences to the Mandel family.
“The state of Maryland lost not only a former governor but also a truly great leader and someone countless people thought of as a friend, including myself,” Hogan said. “I will be forever grateful for the advice, wisdom, and stories Governor Mandel has shared with me throughout the years.”
