Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grille Coming to Parole

Development group said the location next to the Red Lobster near Westfield Annapolis mall should be open by mid 2012.

There’s a new Greene Turtle headed for Parole.

And the group of investors that celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony Monday afternoon said it will be a showcase location for the regional chain.

The new location will be built on a vacant lot adjacent the Red Lobster in the Annapolis Restaurant Park along Jennifer Road across from .

Larry Ray, one of the primary partners, said the Parole location will be larger than other Greene Turtles coming in at 10,400 square feet, including a 2,400-square-foot patio.

When the restaurant is up and running it will boast new designs, while maintaining the Greene Turtle themes, as well as more than 60 televisions throughout the bar and restaurant.

“The Annapolis location is really going to be the showcase for the Green Turtle corporation,” Ray said

The new location at 177 Jennifer Rd. is expected to open in mid 2012, according to a release. That area also is home to and the Sheraton Annapolis Hotel.

The other partners in GT Anne Arundel LLC are stat Del. Steve Schuh, R-District 31, former state Del. James King, R-District 33A, and Anne Arundel County Councilman Derek Fink, District 3.

The same group is preparing to soon cut the ribbon on a new Pasadena location near The Big Vanilla. Ray said they also are working on a Gambrills location along Route 3.

This group also is involved with five new Greene Turtle locations in Fairfax County, VA, he said.

Ray said Larry LaDoyen also is one of the partners on the Anne Arundel locations and is leading the partnership in Fairfax.

“Although we now operate in four states, The Greene Turtle is a home-grown Maryland company, and we are delighted at the prospect of opening a restaurant in the State Capital,” Mike Sanford, president and chief executive officer of the Greene Turtle Franchising Corp., which is based in Edgewater, said in a release.
