Group of Women Assault Victim With Baton, Mace: Police

An Annapolis woman was punched in the head, hit with a baton and sprayed with mace by a group of women, police say.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Three Annapolis women are in jail on assault charges after police say they were part of a group of women who beat a woman with a baton and sprayed her with mace, police say.

Annapolis Police officers were called to the 1300 block of Tyler Avenue Tuesday night on a report that a group of women were assaulting a woman. The group fled, some in a vehicle, before officers arrived.

The victim told police that a group of women approached her and one punched her, knocking her to the ground. Then the group stomped on her head and body. Earlier in the evening the same group assaulted her, when they struck her with a baton and sprayed her with mace.

Authorities say the woman was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries to her head and body.

Officers located the vehicle that fled the area with some of the suspects inside. Tiganne Thompson, 18, Tory James, 19, and Ja’nisse Sellman, 19, all of Annapolis were arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Sellman is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $30,000 bond, James is being held on $50,000 bond, and Thompson is being held on $75,000 bond, according to police.
