Guard Cut in Bar Brawl, Officer Hit By Fleeing Truck

An Essex man is charged with cutting a security guard with a knife, while a Severn woman reportedly hit a cop with a truck.

A security guard was sliced with a knife while trying to break up a bar fight at the Firehouse Pub in Pasadena, then a police officer was hit by the fleeing suspects’ vehicle, authorities say.

The brawl was reported early Saturday at the bar, 8514 Fort Smallwood Road, with one security guard suffering a 6-inch cut to his back.

Several bar patrons told Anne Arundel County Police officers that the suspects were in a Dodge pickup truck that was leaving the scene. As the pickup pulled out of the parking lot onto Fort Smallwood Road it struck an officer who was on foot.

Soon after, an off-duty officer traveling in the area spotted the getaway pickup, and several patrol cars converged on the truck to stop it. The passenger, Zachary John Manley, 28, from Essex, was reportedly combative when ordered to get out of the truck.

Police could see the woman driver -- Jessica Renee McQueen, 34, of the 8200 block of New Cut Road in Severn -- had a knife tucked into her waistband. McQueen reportedly refused commands to get out of the vehicle, and after several warnings, police used a Taser on her so she could be taken into custody.

Witnesses at the bar, along with security footage, identified Manley as the suspect who had attacked the security guard with a knife. McQueen was identified as the driver of the truck, who had intentionally struck the police officer.

The injured officer was treated and released for minor injuries. The bar security guard was taken to a local hospital for treatment for a six-inch laceration to his back.

Both suspects were also taken to a local hospital, where they were treated and released.

Manley was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

McQueen was charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and numerous traffic offenses.
