Head to City Dock Sunday for the Grand Illumination

The annual tree lighting ceremony is one of many area activities this Thanksgiving weekend.

What: Grand Illumination
Where/When:
Performances begin at 5:30 p.m. Sunday with the official tree lighting at 7 p.m. at City Dock.
Why Go: There will be a performance members of the Chesapeake Ballet Company, a tree lighting, remarks from Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen and refreshments.
Cost: Free

What: Ice skating
Where/When:
, Friday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Why go:
Enjoy the feeling of outdoor skating in the brisk autumn air, along with some hot chocolate and not mention some Pit Boys barbecue.
Cost: $6 park entry fee per vehicle (free after 5:30 p.m. during ice skating season), skating is $6 for adults and $5 for children and seniors, and $3 skate rentals.

What: The Gingerbread Pirates
When/Where
: 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at Children’s Theatre of Annapolis
Why Go
: The annual holiday show runs for one day only this year and will feature a visit from Santa after each show.
Cost
: $8 for adults, $5 for children (ages 2 to 12) and children younger than age 2 are free.

What: Deale Elks Christmas Craft Fair
When/Where
: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Deale Elks Lodge, 6022 Drum Point Rd., Deale
Why Go
: This is a great place to shop for holiday gifts for friends and family. Come a view the wares of regional crafters while supporting local charitable organizations.

: 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at , Odenton.
Why Go
: Come to Greenway Bowl for pancakes and bowling with Santa. It includes: two hours of bowling for up to six people, shoes, music, door prizes, holiday trivia and a visit and gift from Santa for each child. Breakfast includes bacon or sausage, pancakes and syrup, milk, juice, coffee, tea, donuts or pastries.

: $12 per person or $59.95 per lane
