Highway 50 Opioid Crackdown Seizes Drugs, Nets 2 Arrests

State Police officers stopped over 30 vehicles during a crackdown on opioid trafficking along Highway 50 in the Easton area.

EASTON, MD — Maryland State Police officers stopped over 30 vehicles during a crackdown on opioid trafficking along Highway 50 in the Easton area. Two arrests were made Wednesday in the sweep, and more than a thousand dollars worth of drugs were seized, according to a news release.

Troopers focused on identifying people trafficking opiates on U.S. Highway 50. More than 33 traffic stops were made, and officers issued 13 citations, 27 warnings and one safety equipment repair order.

During one traffic stop, Theodore Molock, 44, of Cambridge, was found to be wanted on a Dorchester County Circuit Court arrest warrant for violation of probation, and transferred to the custody of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

Another traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Garry Waples, 61, of Berlin, included a search of the vehicle that turned up 92 Oxycontin pills, crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The narcotics that were seized from Waples had a street value of over $1,500. He was also sought on an active arrest warrant issued through Queen Anne County for failure to appear in district court.

Waples was charged with multiple controlled dangerous substance drug violations. He was taken before a Talbot County Court Commissioner pending disposition.
