ANNAPOLIS – Anthony Brown continued to mislead Marylanders on the state of their healthcare Sunday, during an interview on WBAL TV 11. His appearance Sunday came on the heels of remarks made last week when he indicated he knew 73,000 Marylanders would lose their healthcare coverage after the state’s rollout of the Affordable Care Act.
“After admitting he knew over 73,000 Marylanders would lose their healthcare, Anthony Brown now claims that no one will lose their healthcare,” said Change Maryland Chairman Larry Hogan. “The O’Malley-Brown Administration has been much less than forthcoming on this issue. No amount of spin will change the fact that tens of thousands of families will lose their plans. The O’Malley-Brown Administration knew these families could not keep their original plans, but they continued to perpetuate that myth.
“This is simply more political posturing,” Hogan continued, “and it’s deplorable. Right now thousands of mothers, fathers, grandparents, and children have slipped through the cracks and have been told they no longer have health insurance. And worse, they can’t even get new insurance because the state’s rollout has been so plagued with problems.”

The problems Hogan speaks of include the dismal record of enrollees, which is just over1,200, despite state reports that inflate the number almost 4x, as well as the delay of the small business health exchange, or SHOP, until at least April 2014.
