Husband Hits Wife, Bystanders Intervene: Annapolis Police
A Colesville man is charged with assault after he allegedly struck his wife during an argument in Annapolis, police said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A Montgomery County man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his wife in their car and then tried to keep her from leaving until bystanders intervened, according to the Annapolis Police Department. The confrontation happened about 3:40 p.m. Sunday in the unit block of Market Space.
According to the police report, the wife of Francis Msonthi, 47, of Colesville, reported they argued and he assaulted her, and grabbed her by the neck and her hair. When his wife tried to leave the vehicle, police say Msonthi attempted to drive off until prevented by bystanders.
The woman was able to remove her child from the vehicle and Msonthi fled the area. He later came to Annapolis Police Department headquarters to turn himself in.

Msonthi was charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. He was released by the District Court Commissioner on $7,500 bond.
